Raising Up Kingdom Kids (A Personal Update)

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”  Helen Keller

In August 2023, a few moms joined together to pray…. for the challenges around education, peer influences, and the desire to raise godly kids. Only by God’s grace and His design, was an answer to those prayers already in place. Weeks later, KINGDOM KIDS EDUCATION was born.

In September, 30 students gathered at Niagara Worship Centre to learn together. We were anxious and excited heading into that first week. Would this attempt fail miserably? Is it possible to unite 15 families with different educational viewpoints? We wondered if chaos would ensue!

Fast forward 5 months. Over 60 students, teachers, and volunteers, participate in this growing community. Have there been growing pains? Absolutely. Do we still like each other? Yes, we sure do.

The next question might be: What do the students study at Kingdom Kids?

  • Math
  • Language Arts
  • Bible Foundations
  • Phys. Ed. & Health
  • Visual Art
  • Life Skills
  • Science
  • French

Students attend Kingdom Kids for 2 full days each week, and enjoy engaging classes and social time. Parents instruct students in their education for the remaining days. It’s a hybrid approach to learning.

Within a few months of Kingdom Kids starting, we noticed a shift in our own 3 children. Greater eagerness and enthusiasm about their faith. Deeper friendships and connection among their peers. More diligence with their academic studies. This had nothing to do with us. God’s Spirit is at work through the context of community.  The love and grace exuding from the teachers & volunteers, is cascading into our family life. It is truly beautiful!

We have heard the same phrase uttered over and over by parents and grandparents: “This community is an answer to our prayers!” Apparently, we weren’t the only ones wrestling with God over education choices. What a relief!

Where does Kingdom Kids go from here?

We do the next right thing.

We pray.

We have exhausted the space available at our current location. So, we seek to partner with other local churches for September. We pray for God to provide.

We desire to make Christian education affordable, but lack the means. So, we establish a Sponsorship Fund to offer provision for the teachers, staff & students. We pray for God to stir hearts.

Prayer is the bookends of every great adventure with God. Thanks for taking this one with us.
